Free Christmas Craft Idea for Kids

If you're looking for holiday craft ideas for preschoolers, this is a great place to start.  So, let's begin with Santa pictures.  There are a variety of Santa coloring books available during the holidays.

Choose a picture from the book.  Cut out the picture of Santa, and place the picture in the center of a sheet of white construction paper.  Use a glue stick to secure the picture.

Use colored pencils to decorate the picture.  Once coloring is done, use wisps of cotton to serve as Santa's beard and a small ball of cotton at the end of his red hat.  To make it extra special, use small, black buttons as Santa's eyes and a red button for his nose.  Fill the rest of the area of the white construction paper by drawing presents or candy canes.

When the picture is completed, your kids can sign their names directly under the picture.  Take a piece of cardboard and glue the picture to it. Place the picture in a frame, and place the frame in a special place in your home for all to see and admire.

SANTA CHRISTMAS CARDS:

Santa Christmas cards are also fun for your children.  Get a piece of heavy, white paper and cut the paper to a 5" x 7" size.  You can fold it in half, either way - vertical or horizontal. Now it's time to be creative.  Have pictures of Santa that your kids can copy on to the front cover.  Use crayons or felt markers to let their creative ideas explode.

After the picture is finished, your kids can write Christmas messages on the inside of the card. Homemade Christmas cards are wonderful to display in your home or send to relatives and friends.  You can even add this to your Christmas craft-a-day calendar; it's a great craft to do with your kids or students.

MAKE A SANTA PLATE ORNAMENT FOR THE CHRISTMAS TREE:

To make a Santa Plate Ornament, you'll need to get several supplies: crayons and felt pens, wisps of cotton, a round paper plate, and shiny thread cut to tiny bits. On the paper plate, draw Santa without his hat.  Use crayons or markers.  To add some depth to Santa, glue cotton balls on his beard and mustache.

To make his beard, glue the cotton together into a V-shape.  Then attach the top of the V-shape to the plate so it hangs off the plate's edge.  Another place to use cotton is on Santa's white hair.

Use a blue marker to color in Santa's eyes, and a black marker to draw Santa's glasses. Use red food color on a cotton ball to make Santa's nose. You can color the rim of the plate with red or green and add color sparkles to it.

Finally, place the Santa plate on the tree by inserting an ornament hook at the top of the plate.

As you can see, there are so many different ways to involve your kids in creating, making, and decorating Santa Christmas ornaments, pictures, and cards.
